The tilma, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City

Another quick update.

Today was especially moving for Kathryn and me. Our group spent the entire day at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. We started the day with a Solemn Mass in a side chapel of the old basilica, which was beautiful. Then we moved on to seeing the tilma, the image of which is known to Catholics all over the New World and beyond. I honestly didn’t expect to become misty-eyed over a centuries-old peasant cloak, but as I looked at the tilma and started thinking about Our Lady’s desire to reveal herself to us through this image, that’s exactly what happened.
