Walking elephants

We just finished a walk at an elephant sanctuary northeast of Plettenberg Bay. We walked the elephants with their trunks in our hands, and we also fed them. I particularly enjoyed watching them use their trunks to throw feed into their mouths, the way we might use our hands to throw popcorn into ours.

  1. That’s a great photo. I am not sure I would want to get that close to an elephant, but this one seems tame enough. Just happened to think that it must get dark very late there since it is early summer giving you a lot more time to drink in the sights and experiences. Enjoy every bit of it. I can’t wait to hear all about it when you get home. Meanwhile, keep these posts coming! Dad and I check for updates several times daily 🙂

    1. Yes, it’s light until after 8 pm, and the sun is up around 5 am. However, it’s been so hot here that one can easily debate whether extra daylight is a good thing.
